Hey Marshall,

I totally agree that the decisions you're making are very sound ones in terms of the health of your business. And I definitely understand the difference between smaller shops and truly large output operations switching up their entire ink inventory. There is significant dollar signs involved.

But, proportionally speaking it's a pretty small price to pay for any shop to make the switch and it ought to (and soon will be) considered a bare-minimum effort from print shops to maintain consumer health at the very least. To take it further and declare yourself "green" it's a no-brainer that toxic inks should not be used in place of perfectly viable alternatives. That's the issue here- I'm not trying to mis-represent or discourage your efforts to improve things, but to get into the "green club" you need to make those bare-minimum, baseline efforts that require a sacrifice to the "bottom line" at first.

So I really do see your point of view. I know it well and it's a viewpoint I'll never have because my mission as a business is fundamentally different than yours. Not superior necessarily, just different. From a purely economic viewpoint, using the materials that I do, I take a lot of sacrifices in cost of materials that price me way out of a many markets that would otherwise be profitable to me and my company. It's not easy watching that business pass by but, to me, it's the only way to do it. And, as mentioned earlier, there's intangible benefits to doing it the right way.

-Chris
