Hey Marshall, I totally agree that the decisions you're making are very sound ones in terms of the health of your business. And I definitely understand the difference between smaller shops and truly large output operations switching up their entire ink inventory. There is significant dollar signs involved. But, proportionally speaking it's a pretty small price to pay for any shop to make the switch and it ought to (and soon will be) considered a bare-minimum effort from print shops to maintain consumer health at the very least. To take it further and declare yourself "green" it's a no-brainer that toxic inks should not be used in place of perfectly viable alternatives. That's the issue here- I'm not trying to mis-represent or discourage your efforts to improve things, but to get into the "green club" you need to make those bare-minimum, baseline efforts that require a sacrifice to the "bottom line" at first. So I really do see your point of view. I know it well and it's a viewpoint I'll never have because my mission as a business is fundamentally different than yours. Not superior necessarily, just different. From a purely economic viewpoint, using the materials that I do, I take a lot of sacrifices in cost of materials that price me way out of a many markets that would otherwise be profitable to me and my company. It's not easy watching that business pass by but, to me, it's the only way to do it.
