"Based on conversations with our key clients, nobody wants to pay extra for this ink unless they have to." We do not charge anymore for non-phtalate ink. The cost is so insignificant it is not even worth bringing up. Now the new to phtalate free ink companies on the block like Wilfex and such do charge a greatly inflated price for their non-phtalate inks but for companies like QCM who have always had inks that do not contain any of the banned pthalates, there was/is no cost increase on their inks just because to gov made a new law. I can fully understand your companies position with its large reserve of pthalate inks. But if you were to start replacing as supplies where exhausted with non-phtalate inks you would find the cost savings in just not having to do special handling and decontamination would far out way the small cost increase on the inks. We have also found that customers do not even understand the new law or the bad affects of phtalates even if you try and explain it to them but they do understand it when you tell them that you only use phtalate and lead free inks. That alone is starting to cinch more and more sales even from some of our government customers. To them they just know the stuff is bad and cannot understand why it is ok to make a 4 year old sick with possible pthalate ingestion or do the same thing to a 13 year old when it comes to lead. They just know the stuff is bad and they don't want it. I also find it difficult to understand why a company such as yours that is publicly touting how eco friendly and green it is would knowingly use inks with phtalates that could end up in a land fill some day. I know it is a money thing but I just don't get it. ____________________ SPOF - A forum for the Screen Printing and Embroidery Industry | |
