It sounds like your transfer time is a bit long and, if there's adhesive pushing through, a bit too much pressure.

Try backing the pressure off. The goal is not that different from direct printing where you want to lay the ink on top and not into the substrate.

I typically go about 12 seconds at around the same temp. you are at for my transfers with adhesive sprinkled on the back.

Another thing to try is to mix the adhesive crystals into the ink rather than applying it to the back.

Last off, to get that detail I believe a layer of clear is typically printed last to hold everything together.
