  About the same thing will happen either way. The servo has to move the same mass as the air version with the same speed or better. You can get crunched either way.

There are better ways to "safe" a press (electronics wise)....but not that you would want to pay for or maintain. The press manufacturers do a pretty decent job of making the presses safe. Of course they can all be defeateed by lazy employees.

There is no substitute for common sense. Ray
