I had the same problem. Found I was misprinting, and narrowed it down to my number 3 platen. What I think caused it was tightening the platen down TOO tight, and it slightly deformed the surface of the arm where it contacts the platen bracket. My press is a couple of years old and has the shiny paint. The newer ones use a matte finish, which may help avoid this, but here's the $12 fix . . .

Go to Home Depot and get some self-adhesive stair tread safety tape. It's like black emery cloth, but it's made for outdoor use on stairs, ladders, or any surface where you want to avoid slipping. You'll only need a few small pieces, but the roll is $12. Put about 4 small squares on the bottom of each platen bracket (the black part) as far from each other as possible. Then, to give the stuff something to bite into, I put a double strip of good duct tape along the top of the platen arm along the slot in the middle. You'll have to unscrew the platen bracket more than usual to move it in and out when adjusting the position, but I'll guarantee that sucker won't move when you tighten the bolts down. I haven't had a misprint since I did this. I did it to all my platen arms. I'll post a photo later this morning.
