"As with any lacquer based ink, it is easy to thin the viscosity with lacquer thinner." I posted the above message on Wednesday June 4, 2008. In my eMails today I got a message from Richard Labov the partiarch at Union Ink reminding me that lacquer thinner is not what they would recommend as a proper reducer, because it evaporates too fast. "Lacquer thinner is miscible, but evaporates much too quickly and the ink in the screen will get gummy quickly." He suggests any aromatic hydrocarbon, such as Solvesso 100 or the slower Solvesso 150 would be the proper reducer, reducer-retarder. Mineral spirits is not strong enough. He also wrote that he has taken steps to modify the Tech Data Sheet for Uniplast so it specifies a proper reducer. There is no question in my mind that this a a far superior response to the question, compared to mine. [Edited on 6/6/08 by richardgreaves] ____________________ Richard Greaves, ASPT Ulano Corp.
