Graphic Artist - Screen Printing & Promotional Products (South Brunswick, NJ) Title: Graphic Artist Position Reports to: Owner Department: Art GENERAL DESCRIPTION You will be responsible for creating logos and designs to be screen printed or embroidered on wearables as well as creating digital artwork for printing on various promotional products. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Create original artwork as each order dictates via the account executives. 2. Candidate must have exceptional skills converting sketches to camera-ready vector art and to recreate low resolution artwork. 3. Assist account executives to ensure product satisfaction is achieved. 4. Catalogue and reference art for future access. 5. Prepare art for production as per process guidelines 6. Work with production to assist with any art issues on individual product orders. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: 1. Computer skills: must have high level skills in vector based software such as Adobe Illustrator, on a PC platform. Must have high level skills in Adobe Photoshop on a PC platform and have experience color separating art in Photoshop and working in the channels area of the program. 2. Basic understanding of Windows based operating system. 3. Exceptional attention to detail. 4. The ability to create and execute numerous projects under tight deadlines. 5. A working knowledge of inks, screen mesh, halftone frequency and print properties on various substrates (will train if no experience). 6. Must understand how to work with spot colors, 4 color process art, simulated and process art. 7. A basic understanding of embroidery effects and limitations (will train if no experience). Experience with embroidery digitizing a plus, but not required. 8. Great organizational skills. 9. Ability to respond quickly to changing situations as well as multitask. 10. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, vendors and customers. 11. Creativity and color theory a plus. MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: 1. High school diploma or its equivalent. 2. 2-4 year art/design degree plus/or previous substantial screen print design experience.
