My husband and I recently purchased a used Press-A-Print pad printer and we have had the toughest time with it! It is about two years old and was only used a couple of times. We started by trying to print a logo on a mug. The plate turned out great! We used the suggested ink for mugs and mixed it exactly as described. -We even bought a little scale to make sure we were precise! But after we flooded the plate, we couldn't squeegee it clean. We tried over and over, but after we squeegee-ed the plate, there would still be ink around the image and the pad would pick it up. We tried this for hours, mixing in more thinner, etc. and we were not successful. The ink seemed to dry on the plate almost immediately! We eventually got the ink thin enough to squeegee the plate clean, but then the pad couldn't pick it up (of course). Now we are totally gun-shy about using it. What are we doing wrong??? Is the ink too old? I understand there are inks for open pad-printer wells that are already pre-mixed. Should we get some? Where do you recommend we order it? Please help!! BTW- We are printing in our house with a window open and a fan on in the room over. We tried it with the window closed and the fan off in case it was drying out the ink, but it didn't help. We live in San Diego so it tends to be dry here. We want to get started asap but we seem to be stuck. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! [Edited on 10/8/09 by SoCalGal] | ||
