In the Windows control pad you can edit your Java settings to disable older versions, or as I do simply uninstall them. However note that you may have to re-install the latest version, which is not a big deal. As for Flash, I too get that warning and its due to my older versions of Adobe Illy, and Photoshop which has flash "plugins". Since I am not an artist, and rarely use them I see no reason to purchase the latest versions or for upgrades.
